Central
Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the CTET (Central Teacher
Eligibility Test) twice every year. The CTET eligibility is fixed according to the
guidelines framed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Some of
the basic requirements to fulfill CTET eligibility criteria 2020 are passing
10+2 examinations or completing graduation with minimum 50 per cent aggregate
marks including the teacher training programmes. Some of the important points
that should be acknowledged before applying for the exam are given below:

There are two papers - I and II in the exam
·
Paper-I is for those applicants who
plan to teach classes I-V and paper-II is for those
applicants who wish to teach classes VI-VIII.
·
The Candidates who wish be eligible for teaching from classes
I-VIII have to appear for both paper-I and -II

CTET Eligibility 2020
– Educational Qualification
CTET
eligibility for primary (class’s I-V) and elementary (classes VI-VIII) stage
teachers is different as mentioned below:
CTET Educational Qualification for Primary Stage Teachers
In order
to be qualified for being a Primary stage teacher from classes I-V applicants
must meet any one criteria given below to fulfill their CTET
eligibility:
· Passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with
minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the
two-year teacher training diploma course in Elementary Education
· Passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with
minimum 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the
two-year teachers' training diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with
rules mentioned in NCTE, 2002
· Passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognized institute with
minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of
four-year bachelor’s course in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
· Passed 10+2 board examinations with minimum 50 per cent marks and
passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Special Education
· Graduation in any stream with minimum 50 per cent marks and
a B.Ed degree
Note:
Candidates who have obtained B.Ed degree from any NCTE recognized institution
need to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized
by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) within two years after
being appointed as a primary teacher.
CTET Educational Qualification for Elementary Stage Teachers
In order
to be qualified for appointment as an elementary stage teacher, the applicants
must fulfill any one of the criteria given below:

Graduation in any stream and passed or appearing in the final year
of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed)
·
Graduation in any stream with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed
or appearing in one-year B.Ed course
·
Graduation with minimum 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing
in one-year B.Ed in accordance with the rules and norms of NCTE
· Passed 10+2 board exams from a recognised institute with minimum
50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year
B.El.Ed
· Passed 10+2 board exams from a recognized institute with minimum
50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year
BA/BSc.Ed or BA.Ed/BSc.Ed
· Passed graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or
appearing in one-year B.Ed in Special Education
CTET 2020
Eligibility: Reservation & Associated Parameters
· Relaxation of five per
cent in qualifying marks has been given to candidates belonging
to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled
Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and Differently Abled
· A diploma/degree in teacher education pursued by candidates should
be mandatorily recognised by NCTE
· In case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed
(Special Education), a teacher education course recognized by the
Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered
· A candidate with Diploma in Special Education need to undergo,
after appointment, an NCTE recognized six-month Special Programme in Elementary
Education
· Applicants are chosen as teachers of Physical Education according to the regulations
and norms laid down by NCTE
· For teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work
Education, etc. norms by other school management and state government are
applicable until NCTE lays down its minimum eligibility norms with such
teachers
